Design on a Dime

This Thursday, May 6th, Housing Works kicks off it's sixth annual Design on a Dime fundraising event. The ticket price is a steep $150 for the opening gala, but admission to the sale itself is free and open to the public on Friday, May 7th and Saturday the 8th, 10am–6pm at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street in Manhattan.

In the event space, tons of top interior designers create fantastic room vignettes featuring new donated housewares, furniture and linens that get auctioned off piece-by-piece ("at charitable prices," as stated on the website), with proceeds going to services for homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS. This year's fundraiser benefits the renovation of Housing Works' 874 Jefferson Avenue Residence Project, a new three-story, twelve-unit development in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Unfortunately, we will be out of town this weekend, so we'll have to miss it, which is a bummer because the roster of designers is (as always) SO impressive!
